Pros

Really fun happy hours, incentive trips, annual baseball game, and holiday dinner. The coworkers are amazing. You will get a ton of help from your peers and they’re just quality people. Open door management so you can ask questions as needed Decent pay starting off and ability to make commission

Cons

•The biggest con is the product and how you’re told to pitch it. They call local businesses and organizations to try to sell them ad space into yearbooks and game day programs. The thing is that you have to be very careful how you state your affiliation with the team. You have to say “regarding the team” or something to that effect so you don’t “misrepresent yourself”. You aren’t supposed to tell them what company you work for unless they directly ask. There are no actual stats on how many are sold, even though it seems like it would be easy to get numbers from the Pro Shops they’re supposed to be at. There’s no information on how they’ll actually be distributed either. You’re told to say things like “typically they do this and that”. The thing about this is that many clients call back upset because the books were hardly advertised and you’re just supposed to say “well we aren’t in charge of distribution and we said typically because they’ve done those things in the past”. You also get lots of people complaining because they can’t find the product, it went out late, or never even went out at all. All of these issues are present while you’re pitching that this will get out them out in front of the who’s who in the area. At the same time though, we were told to educate clients on ROI and why it isn’t accurate, whenever they never saw a return from purchasing an expensive ad that was supposed to get them out in front of so many people. Then, it’s explained that since it’s brand advertising it’s more like they’re hoping to land one big account or deal from it. The pitch makes it seem like these get huge traffic and will do wonders but then they don’t for most clients. • Taking off for being sick is discouraged and there are multiple times that the manager has come in with a virus and you see people just start passing it around •There is no one from HR in the office and as a consequence, you will hear racist and homophobic comments from some people and no one really says anything. •The retention rate is awful, I saw at least 11 people quit. •there’s not really any privacy when there are meetings. I have been in and witnessed meetings where the manager cusses or screams at employees. •there isn’t much room for advancement. $60K salary is about where most people top out and you can ask about numbers and goals to get a raise but you’ll end up just getting “better leads” instead •they have someone monitoring calls who has never even made sales for the company before. They give incorrect advice and make notes on your cards. You’re supposed to just tell them what they’re wrong about and move on but it’s a waste of time to have to do that. •there is hardly an diversity which might be good considering the racist and homophobic comments.

Work for Sociopaths

Pros

Sports related so you talk about sports

Cons

If I had several months, may not be able to list all the cons. If you enjoy working for greedy sociopaths, this is the spot. Boiler Room on steroids was an apt description of this place as I read a few years ago. No truer words have ever been said. Sure, a few people make legit good money. Keep in mind, NOBODY is set up for success. Unless, related to the sociopaths that run it. Life is too short. Clean toilets, dig ditches--It will be more fulfilling that this place.

Pros

Starting salary MSG suite that was rare but cool. That’s literally it.

Cons

Sweat shop environment Leadership is rude, incompetent, and the least motivational people ever. Can’t earn any more days off even after 3+ years of employment in good standing. Petty over small things like bathroom usage, and coffee breaks. No room for growth and even their management or “middle desk” comes with absolutely no additional compensation with a major increase in responsibility. Very limited sick days. No IC plan - or in their case the worst IC plan in existence - for a sales position is a death sentence for them.
