Pros

You will have a job

Cons

Security company that doesn’t care about security!! Leadership is very stingy with money. There are hardly any perks or retention program in place (even with the massive attrition the company is experiencing). The company rather save money and use the cheapest tools and products. Very very very cheap!! No structure what so ever. The company is basically in a state of nature where it operates with no laws. Very manual processes and senior leaders that are not receptive to change. Each org operates as its own island, specifically in engineering where important infrastructure environments do not talk to each other. Every engineering team does their own thing so everything is a mess.

Very Political and Cut Throat - Proceed With Caution

Pros

The benefits, pay, and PTO were certainly good selling points when I was interviewed.

Cons

The company culture is extremely political and cut throat. Management will play favorites. Coworkers will be watching you and will report your actions to HR without so much as a word to you. Management will not investigate these claims properly, and will immediately fire up formal HR meetings without evidence. Pay increases are stingy. I've had far better compensation increases at other companies. They are extremely rigid with their pay increase/promotion schedule and will not budge regardless of performance. I've seen them fire people without warning. I know it is "at will employment" but some common decency is expected. Do not expect it at Proofpoint. If they do not like you, you're gone, regardless of work performance. Management style is archaic. I feel like I worked in a feudal system. You are expected to be quiet, work, and not ask too many questions. When a Senior Manager tells you: "Technical skills are not important," at a company that specializes in IT Security, you should be concerned. They want "yes men/women," they do not want technical people that ask questions in an effort to improve company practices.

Pros

Best of breed solution...can’t thing of anything else.

Cons

I worked on the middle enterprise sales team. I had maybe 75 real accounts in my territory. To hit quota I probably would have needed to close 12 of them...which means 35-40 would have needed to evaluate us within the year. This was completely unworkable. Not only was converting that % of my accounts into pipeline impossible it was the first sales job I held where I actually ran out of things to do every day. There just weren’t enough prospects to call on.
