Pros

Company is doing well. People are generally nice. General trend of over-hiring so hours can be pretty easy.

Cons

Selfish management team. No culture -- HR/management talk about culture to employees to mask the fact that they don't actually care. Limited room to grow. Dishonesty with employees (both from management and managers) in terms of career opportunity. Recruiting is dishonest with candidates regarding equity, benefits, etc. yet they're not held accountable as management only cares about getting bodies in the office. Firing culture. Management fired 3 executives in about 6 months yet didn't take any responsibility for the fact that they hired those executives.

Pros

The benefits are good, if you were lucky enough to get in early, the stock options could make you a fair amount of money. The office space is very nice, if somewhat overcrowded.

Cons

In engineering, 80-100 hour weeks were mandatory, and not just at the tail end of projects. There was absolutely no work-life balance. In 2015 they hired a VP of engineering, later promoted to CTO who was openly racist, hiring 90+% people of his same ethnicity for all engineering positions. He would refuse to make eye contact with anyone he considered his lesser and reportedly would speak ill of english speaking employees in a foreign language. He hired multiple people at senior level who were not technically capable at an average level... seemingly based on race or prior association. Knowledge was hoarded among his favored group, and others who had been at the company were denied even access to look at their code.

Pros

Just to let everyone know benefits are good but not that great as portrayed on glassdoor in other reviews

Cons

Upper management has been influenced by all these reviews going around about ex-CTO and had to take a step which they shouldn't have. All the reviews on glassdoor about ex-CTO and the folks he hired are written by older useless employees who did not had any role in what the new team was able to achieve. They (old employees) never tried to gel with the team and kept on complaining and writing these false review about culture and ethics. Just to give context I would explain the recent review written on glassdoor which says "Like 100 hour weeks with no upward mobility?". Yes there were some folks who worked long hours, but to achieve technological hurdle which Prosper was not able to achieve in last few years. There were multiple failed attempts for re-writing platform and whole teams were fired for being unsuccessful. But what we ("CTO Gang" according to old employees) were able to re-write 80%for public facing features and achieve success. None of the old employees had worked 80-100 hours per week. Whatever we did was for the love of our CTO, he was not a dictator. This has been a company where people talk more on glassdoor then in office. I would appeal to other employees to write your views so that these fake reviews are stopped.
