Pros

Laid back as far as supervision goes but this is literally the only pro

Cons

Pay is absolutely terrible Room for advanced/raises- terrible- they make that clear during the interview. $15 an hr, .50 raise every 6 mo which caps out at 2 years - once you get an interview scheduled you basically have the job before they interview you. It's quite clear they just mass hire and they could care less about your worth. Have experience ? Doesn't matter- your experience and knowledge won't be considered. Interview process- terrible. She read a script of what she requires from me. You provide your own equipment, you are held to strict metrics and again ....$15 an hour (they do realize most call centers start around $18?) Orientation - the first video is all about how great their customer service is. If you're waiting to hear what the company can do for YOU ....forget it. It's clear you're just a number here to help them and in return they do nothing from you. PTO and sick? Lol well who knows because they don't feel it's worth even telling you about that. Literally my 3rd week in and still have no idea what my benefits are. You hear a quick message about perks when hired ....perks....but nothing about benefits.

Pros

The job is great for people who just need a little extra income, and are just starting or exiting the labor force-- students just out of high school, the partially retired, etc. The high call volumes mean you are always busy, so the day goes by quickly. They have moved to a purely work-from-home format, which is badly needed when gas prices are over $4.50 per gal. The employee discounts are nice, especially if you are a heavy shopper with QVC anyway. Company would also give away prizes (consumer items), and does try to keep a fun atmosphere, although that has been harder with the pandemic and work-from-home format. Overtime hours are offered during peak season (the holidays), for those who want to work harder and earn more.

Cons

Calls often came in, one after the other, often with less than 2 seconds in-between. Most reps were no longer with company after 2 years; pretty much every rep was gone after 5 years (unless working in other departments-- Quality, Finance, etc.). Company did not seem to promote reps from within to Supervisor and higher level positions. Most supervisors seemed to be either female, or minorities, which could be a plus, or minus for those wanting to advance. Overall management style was Theory X-- very much like being in middle school or high school, with little input considered from reps, especially for less desirable changes. There are also many required days, which are generally around the holidays, and you are expected to work at home for these-- you can't grab your laptop and do work while visiting your out-of-state relatives, for instance. Management tries to keep pay rate in the middle of what comparable companies are offering for Customer Service Representatives, so whether by accident, or design, you'll most likely be working somewhere else in a few years. Plan accordingly...

Pros

Coworkers were good to work with.

Cons

They lay off so many people that other departments have to handle the former's responsibilities. Pay is a joke. There isn't enough money to pay employees accordingly, but will hire new employees at a higher rate than the current employees are making. The systems used are ancient and work sometimes. Customers are almost always upset because the "verification process" doesn't make any sense. 0/10 would not work there again.
