The benefits were great and reasonable for employees. The Medical Center provided special appreciation for employees during the Holidays.

Cons

Nurse managers mistreat the staff nurses and show favoritism regularly. Early comments on managers "habitually abusing the staff nurses" is factual. Management and leadership needed not be so dogmatic and rigid in their treatment of the staff nurses who work so hard. Rules and policies are provided as guidance and set standards for practice. Managers need to understand and know hospital policies as well as understand some of the local culture of the community of Hawaii.

Pros

Queen's Medical Center is the biggest and best financed hospital in the state of Hawaii. The hospital benefits greatly from the Queen Emma trust.

Cons

Queen's administration and middle managers habitually mistreat the employees. There are few opportunities for career growth - unless you are willing to follow the deceitful style of the administration team. Queens' has 7 to 8 VPs in charge of different service lines - unfortunately they do not communicate very well amongst themselves or with staff. Much of their resources are misused and wasted. Many witnessed cases of medical mistakes by MDs and nurses.

Queen's Medical Center is the best hospital in the state of Hawaii, and the trauma center of the pacific. Queen's administration treats the employees fairly. There are opportunities for career growth, such as a clinical ladder program for nurses.

Cons

No Parking and inadequate retirement health care benefit.
