Not the best place for career advancement if you are not a medical professional

If you only want a 'job' then it is a good place.

Cons

The PTO is inadequate as there is no separate sick leave. Professionals who are not medical staff are given few avenues for career development. Be very aware that it is almost impossible to move up, either in title or salary. Policies, if they exist, are applied selectively, not unilaterally, which devalues them.

The benefits were great and reasonable for employees. The Medical Center provided special appreciation for employees during the Holidays.

Cons

Nurse managers mistreat the staff nurses and show favoritism regularly. Early comments on managers "habitually abusing the staff nurses" is factual. Management and leadership needed not be so dogmatic and rigid in their treatment of the staff nurses who work so hard. Rules and policies are provided as guidance and set standards for practice. Managers need to understand and know hospital policies as well as understand some of the local culture of the community of Hawaii.
