Pros

Recruitment moved quickly to interview. The interviewer seemed very kind.

Cons

I was interviewed by a recruiter and asked salary expectations as the first question. I gave my estimated hourly rate, which is my current rate + $3/hour because the job is part time (no benefits) and I’d have to be driving an hour each way. Additionally since getting my current job I have passed 3 more registries, gotten my oregon license, and have a year and a half of experience. (Plus on job breast training )- so for my current job I’m expected to get a pay raise soon. The rate shocked the recruiter, and their HIGHEST pay on the range scale is $10 less per hour than I started out with as a new grad with no registries or experience. Plus the area has one of the highest cost of living in the nation!! It is far more expensive to live their, then where I live and would be commuting from. (Where my current job pays exceedingly more). Their range is so low it’s insulting.

Pros

Health insurance, 401k, opportunity for new jobs within the company

Cons

I was the “closer” so that included a lot of extra work that was not explained to me when I was hired, such as being responsible for stat patients, relaying information to doctors, cleaning up after everybody, etc. I was told my extra pay for the extra work was 50 cents an hour, which was not worth it, but I found out there were people who did not have my extra responsibilities getting the same pay as me. When I expressed concern about the pay inequality I was facing to HR somebody in the company confronted the coworker who told me her pay and scolded her for sharing her pay rate, which employees have a right to discuss, and nobody bothered to respond to me. I never knew what time I was leaving so I was never able to make evening plans, even when I came into my shift, the last appointment of the evening was constantly changing. Most nights my coworkers would be allowed to leave early and I was left alone to take care of patients in the waiting room and stat patients for much longer than the time designated. I was also told to park my car in the back of the parking lot, when I expressed my concern about how I have to walk out in the middle of the night alone to get to my car as closer, I was told I should still park in the back and I could move my car later in the day up closer. Whenever I turned to my manager about an issue or for some help with my job she would ignore me. Once 15 minutes into my shift I was informed about a death in my family, I told my manager and she told me I could cry in her office for a little bit but I can’t leave work. She didn’t even bother to ask anybody to cover for me. When I went to HR about it I was told “she should have been more flexible” and as far as I’m aware nothing was done about it. A majority of my coworkers were not vaccinated, despite working in a medical facility, including my manager, and many of the techs, and everybody would often talk openly at work negatively about the covid 19 vaccination. Also when I got the job I was not told about having to work extra shifts on Saturdays, at least once a month. When I was done training my manager told me I must sign up for one Saturday a month as a sixth day. I asked HR about it and was told it was completely optional so I chose not to do it as it wasn’t what I signed up for. Soon after my manager sent an email exclaiming then a 6th day of 8 hours, one Saturday a month was now mandatory. It was a toxic workplace and I only wish I had quit the job sooner, there is a very high turnover rate unsurprisingly.
