Pros

Stewardship and love for the outdoors is awesome. The majority of employees are excited and passionate about the outdoors. Possibility for work life balance, support and advancement in other divisions.

Cons

Leadership lack of accountability, responsibility, execution and support. Private brands division operates as a separate entity and buyers are not excited about the REI brand, therefore lack of strategy and vision.

Pros

Lovely Co-workers Great perks if you love the outdoors Good work life balance

Cons

Inauthenticity and hypocrisy - Leadership makes a big thing about being multi-cultural antiracist organization but senior management and C Suit are predominantly white people. No amount of Land Acknowledgments and conspicuous declaration of pronouns can paper over managements ongoing union busting and anti-labor directives. You can't start a Black people focused product line, hire no black people to design or work on it, cancel it in its first year when it doesn't sell as well as you'd like, and then call it Mission Accomplished. "Look how much we did for the black community." MMWTBS. They claim they have a quadruple bottom line but when it comes to it the real bottom is and always has been profit.

Pros

Discounts. Resume builder for your next role.

Cons

Toxic workplace. Over opinionated leaders. No decision making framework causes circling and circling. Remote work isn’t even a perk because there are so many alignment meetings and so little PTO behind industry standards you’re chained to your desk and teams meetings without getting outside. Private industry has teams way over staffed compared to lean brands. This place is soul crushing.
