Thank you for taking a few moments to share your thoughts, especially your overall evaluation that REI Systems is a great company, which is very encouraging to hear! The list of positive factors you mentioned point to our baseline commitment to provide an excellent work environment for our teams. Health insurance is an area of common challenge across the economy and we have recently rebalanced our offerings to provide both higher and lower deductible options to suit different household preferences. We continue to adjust our plans, in dialog with our growing employee community. Your voice remains valuable. As for fluctuating contracts in government contracting, REI truly strives to differentiate ourselves by seeking to retain employees through mobility across our diverse portfolio, seeking to minimize layoffs to the greatest degree possible, typically leveraging internal transfers before external hires. Again, thank you for your feedback!

Pros

Remote work and Work life balance

Cons

HR does not look out for employees when issues are brought up. HR is only here to protect the company and not the employees. There is a lot of favoritism at this company. Management and some staff have no problem bad mouthing other employees in front of people. Some of the leadership is not qualified to be in positions of power since they lack leadership skills such as empathy and emotional intelligence. Employees that refuse to help others and gatekeep information are rewarded with bonuses and awards because management doesn’t know how to properly assess employees. Instead they promote and reward family and friends (a lot of them know each other outside of work). Some practices are shady, questionable and borderline discriminatory. If you’re not Indian you will not be treated equally and you may not be given the same job security and advancement opportunities. Even if you work hard and your work shows it, they will still let you go. There’s no job security here unless you’re a friend or family member of someone in leadership. Throughout my time at REI I saw several qualified people get let go. They don’t care about their employees livelihoods.

Thank you for this candid review and for your affirmation of the positive realities of remote work and good work/life balance. While we genuinely strive for excellence in every dimension of the employee experience and take seriously the responsibility to treat each person with respect and fairness, we remain committed to listening carefully to each and every voice, regardless of whether the sentiment is positive or negative. Diversity and Inclusion are topics that remain top of mind, meaning that we track our performance in this area (e.g., it is highly rated by anonymous employees here on Glassdoor, as well as in our internal surveys), make proactive investments in this direction, and take seriously voices like yours who raise their hand to signal ways in which we may have missed the mark. Please know that senior leadership is reviewing and considering your feedback. In addition to reaching out to HR, we encourage employees to also reach out to their next level manager, or to anyone in senior leadership, as we value transparency and multiple lines of open communication. Again, thank you for your candor and your previous work for REI.
