Wouldn't recommend working here

Pros

The discount is great except as an employee they typically don't pay you enough to be able to afford anything. Some of the people are fun and interesting.

Cons

- Low compensation especially for the Bay Area - Lack of flexibility in the work place - No work/life balance - The only way to get things done is to yell at people - Execs make so many last minute changes that are financially ridiculous which causes many individuals to work long hours and not make deadlines - They emphasize these "core values" yet none of the employees actually embody them - Constant turnover of staff - Lack of direction from upper management

Pros

Employee discount of 40% Good insurance

Cons

Managers who never coach or train and are always in the back rather than on the floor. Back-biting, gossiping and a lot of hypocrisy at all levels. They talk about the core values, yet they are never enforced by management because their egos are so huge and they spend all of their time kissing up to the district/regional manager. None of the staff take the manager/leaders seriously because the are a joke !

Most challenging and rewarding career of my life!!

Pros

Their Core Values are applied to their business daily. The values are strong and with that comes a lot of accountability to the people. They do not expect to change anyone, they only hope to attract others with the same values. People who struggle with our culture often have a different outlook on our values, or have their own set of values and that's ok. At the end of the day we are all human and people in this company do make mistakes like everyone else. But the values are still the best thing about working for RH. Very close to their people, VP, Regional and even CEO have a good handle on who their people are, and even by name. Very rare! Largest assortment of home furnishing for their associates and designers to work from. Endless opportunities to create and design beautiful spaces. Wages way above avg for retail, competitive for designers. This company has just got started. success never happens overnight and Canada has plenty of room to grow. I work with many people that have been at RH for over 12 years. People don't stay for 12 plus years in retail unless it's a good place to work. It was a good sign to me when I was doing my research on RH.

Cons

Not much to gripe about. Rh has been good to me on all levels. If you love what you do you take the good with the bad. "eat the meat and spit out the bones" I always say! No job is perfect and at least I know I have a voice and can speak up for things that can be better. I do not rely on others to fix problems I can change myself. As most of us know, people quit their boss not a company. Seems as though most negative comments are aimed towards their managers. Fortunately I don't have anyone in my business life that makes me want to quit what I love doing. And some general advice, if you ever find you don't love what you do anymore...change what you do. Own it. Don't wait for someone else to change. Life is too short to be bitter.

Pros

I loved the people I worked with! Best team I have ever been a part of. Truly loved and lived the core values, and I learned a lot about leadership and management- the way management should be. We had many lunches and coffees together, everyone was friends but professional- management threw beautiful baby and wedding showers- there was a lot of love and encouragement.

Cons

The product looks nice, but honestly it's not up to my standards. I would have liked to have a team like this while selling products more along the lines of Room & Board or DWR, but that's just my style. For the prices, I was honestly always relieved the customers would mostly just want the look and pay the price- they didn't ask where it was made or who designed it like I would.

Pros

The company is always pushing the envelope to evolve, to think outside the box and to inspire it's customers. The guiding core values are alive and well used in the field. Offering/giving feedback is encouraged.

Cons

Expectations are extremely high (which is a pro and con). It's great that they continue to raise the bar. Sometimes the bar is raised so high, there are times it is tricky to have a work/personal life balance.

Pros

The pay is ok but not worth what you go through!

Cons

Where do I begin????? I worked there for five years. I started there when they first opened up and created many processes because they had none.... I put in long hours and was very dedicated. I created many sop's for the department. I then became lead and some associates did not agree and caused a very hostile work environment. Management did nothing to have my back.. They told me that i need to try and be friends with the group. I swallowed my pride and did the best i could to try and make things right. but... I got transferred out of my department and was given some bogus reason for doing so. I then did data entry and was not utilized at all. I had serious health problems and was off for surgery for about 3 months. They told me i had to come back before my doctor was ready to release me or i would be fired. I went back, but frustratingly enough was still having issues. My doctor called them, sent in two different sets of accomodation papers and they still refused to work with me on any of them, while management was very hostile towards me. They then called me at home and said I needed to have a 100% release from doctor or i would be fired. Given my serious health issues my doctor could not do that. All my doctor asked for was a few months to get my health to improve.. some reasonable accomadations would have been all it took. The plant manager of the place gets sick... has a "state of site" meeting with everyone, asks for prayer, gets t-shirts made in his honor, and bracelets that say.. what would fred do? It really breaks my heart! I gave that place my all ! I guess their core values are only for certain people...

Pros

I, personally was given many opportunities through out my employment with the company. Nice people to work with; management is flexible and considerate with you if you are with them. Competitive pay rates and benefits; clean work environments and legally sound in their HR & payroll administration.

Cons

Corporate ego's. Core values appear to be a bill board of lip service to make themselves look good to others & feel good about themselves.

Pros

40% discount on product whenever the store leader feels like cashing you out but that may not be for days.

Cons

Wow where do I start? If you are looking for full time- move on right now, yes keep scrolling to other companies. If you are looking for part time and are okay with maybe getting 5 hours a week, keep reading. The core values are a tool to brainwash and control you. Read them carefully. The say they love people who ask questions, if you want to keep your hours, don't ask any. The store leaders sit in the office all day barking orders while they hide from clients and staff. They complain about your wardrobe, which is funny when you're covered head to toe in Fendi, or Prada and they look like they just stepped out of the Kmart bargain bin. My advice- if you have people who love you and will miss you, don't work here. If you are a depressed person looking for someone to control you in every aspect, and you don't mind working 14 hours, 10+ days in a row, if you don't mind the store leader calling you 20+ times a day, 5am to 2am even on your days off, by all means, sell your soul and apply, besides you don't really care about yourself do you?
