RH reviews about "core value"

The biggest challenge of working at Restoration Hardware is their culture. If you buy into their "cult like" culture, you will be fine. They have everyday meetings called " Core Values Meeting" which are little surprises everyday. A good day is when they discuss product or anything business related, but that doesn't happen too often. Usually they want you to tell them something about your life, and possibly cry, so you can really have a good start to your day. Crazy!!!! We were also brought outside and were made to observe and listen to a piece of chocolate and grape. I'm not kidding!!!!! The people running the meetings are the so called leaders( managers). So, if they hire a crazy one, and believe me, they do, well... Then good luck!!!!!!

Total benefit package is steadily improving as the company continues to have success, but not yet on par with it's competitors and similar sized companies in the Bay Area. This is an area of opportunity for the company that I hope, and believe, they address.

Poor Management, overworked, not live their core values

Low pay and the only benefit is high health insurance. Ever since I started all I hear are the career opportunities. I'm always told exactly what I want to hear, but nothing ever happens. They claim to live and breath core values, but it's all talk.

Field and Executive management run hot and cold. They promise many things, deliver on few. It is a closed clique that thrives on a culture of demeaning and demoralizing feedback. They call it "disruptive" (such an overused descriptor), what it really is - chaos. No respect for life/work balance, family commitments or personal time. Be prepared to not get your paid holidays if you work in the retail end. Benefits are very lean - no 401k match, waiting periods, slim vacation time, no perks The "core values" and "amazing culture" are all talk, no action. It's disappointing.

Where do you start. I noticed a few reviews coming in where person were very ecstatic in regards to working at Resto and placing the negative review on the person who left insinuating that the person was not the "right fit". Which I would say Bravo as this is, invoking the Core Values People Asset to a tee. Using the core values as a way to manipulate any situation to Restos advantage and not actually seeing it for the true meaning which is people are any companys greatest asset. Happy people. People who are treated with respect and dignity and that their effort and contribution to a company is well worth it. I would say that the biggest fault with Resto is its lack of respect for its employees and this smoke and mirrors game of letting the employee think you are making a difference or etc. Do not work here if you want a career. You are kept in the mud and never allowed to take that initiative or be that entrepreneur they ask you to be. Do not work here if you enjoy having a life. Only hiring part time but then demanding full, complete availability is unacceptable. Bottom line is you are worked to the bone, critiqued on your appearance, design skills and towel folding techniques. You are asked to maintain a store to pristine conditions while understaffed and expected to hit high unrealistic sales quotas.

There are moments when production and projects are slow but when they're not, be expected to work hard and at times, long hours. RH is a fast pace environment and at times can be challenging.
