Pros

- Free snacks - Beautiful open office - Company events and sponsored activities like Yoga, lake walks, happy hours, etc. - Flat structure encourages driven individuals to take on as much as they can/want - Strong sales pipeline - Willing to part ways with clients who are detracting too much from employee morale - Plenty of support for professional development - Strong encouragement to grow and take on as much as you're able - All ideas are heard and evaluated regardless of seniority or tenure - Leadership team is very open to feedback and communication - Very strong work life balance

Cons

- Strong recent growth trends have caused some process gaps - Project management is stuck a bit in the 'way things used to be' - Self advocacy is critical, unless you speak up you will not have your worries addressed - Certain people hold a lot of extra power as a holdover from smaller days, which causes trouble if they are busy or negligent

An amazing place to work

Pros

Great equipment (for all employees): new laptops and peripherals, as many monitors as you need, standing desks, noise-cancelling headphones, software licenses. If all this isn't enough, management is open to ordering something that makes your day even more comfortable/efficient. Choose your OS: Linux, MacOS and Windows are all allowed here. Open culture: This place is politics-free. There is certainly a separation felt between BE/FE/SF/PM teams but at the end of the day it feels like being part of one big family. Face-to-face feedback and communication is encouraged. There are frequent outings, sponsored events and happy hours (which are completely optional - no one is judged for not hanging out outside of work). Our CEO doesn't have his own office and is always open to conversation. I was skeptical when I first started about the culture here - there is a lot that sounds too good to be true, but now I can't imagine leaving. Growth: Seemingly each week we hear about new clients coming to us for work, new project teams being formed and with that new internal practices that support growth.

Cons

It's possible you'll be on a project without a "lead" developer, leading to some bad practices and code bases that get out of control. I think this one of the side effects of having a flat structure. It can get loud, but that's the issue with any open office.

Pros

You get a standing desk and snacks. If you're self motivated you can learn a lot to beef up a resume.

Cons

Oh my my...where to start? Leaders have made derogatory comments to me about my coworkers, and no doubt they say the same things behind my back. Personal information that should remain confidential has been shared with employees. Scheduled one-on-ones are often canceled by management minutes before the meeting. Extra marital affairs, folks playing games or chatting all day and recording it as billable time, unattainable metrics, back stabbing, inappropriate pictures being shared - it all makes for an interesting day. Emails sent to clients by PMs are often embarrassing due to the grammatical and punctuation errors. Word of advice if you're considering joining - take a look around the office while you're waiting for your interview. See how many of us actually look happy, or speak to you, or even make eye contact with you. Follow your instincts.
