Pros

Opportunities for overtime. Company is rapidly expanding.

Cons

(This is no revenge post) Overwhelming amount of calls, no time to case previous calls, lack of support from management. They make it seem like it’s okay to ask questions, but tend to make you feel uncomfortable when you do. When the call queue gets crazy (AND IT DOES ALMOST EVERYDAY 30+ calls in queue allllllllllll day) leadership disappears instead of assisting with calls. The lead and the team tends to be far more helpful than leadership. Last, but not least, the manager of the department micromanages & says that she doesn’t- She literally told us that she sat in her car watching us to see what time we arrived to work... if that’s not micromanagement, IDK what is. Other departments are better than this one, I’m sure.

Pros

First and foremost, Radiology Partners is a purpose- and values-centered practice, which was my first indicator of a worthwhile career move. Our purpose and values are much more than words on a wall—they form the foundations of our practice and guide behaviors and decision-making at every level. It’s incredibly refreshing and inspiring to not only hear—but see—leaders and colleagues bring their best selves to work through the personification of our purpose, our values and our practice principles. While I am not a physician, I have worked in healthcare and physician services for more than a decade, and I believe RP offers an unmatched model of local physician autonomy and large scale support—all driven by our ‘practice, not company’ and ‘one practice, locally led’ principles. I love the fact that RP identifies as a practice, not a company! In the past, I essentially worked for Wall Street by way of physician services. Not anymore! I am proud to work for radiologists who are singularly focused on transforming the specialty for the sake of better care and outcomes. I also love our ‘one practice, locally led’ model. Physician autonomy is key, and our local practices maintain decision-making power but have access to robust resources to enhance practice operations. And, through the opportunity for physician ownership, RP offers sustainable and rewarding career paths for physicians—something that is seemingly elusive in most large-scale practices. For those of us who serve in non-clinical roles, RP’s physician ownership model offers an environment of high engagement and satisfaction, which leads to better teamwork among physicians and support teams. In other words, we get things done faster and better because we are all engaged and aligned by a singular goal to consistently improve our practice for the sake of achieving our mission. Finally—and most importantly—I see firsthand the emphasis RP places on clinical quality and patient safety. From the implementation and reporting of clinical best practices to partnerships with top academic programs, RP is creating meaningful clinical initiatives to reduce practice variability and make a difference in healthcare. My personal experience with RP has been very positive. I work in a high-visibility role, yet I have the opportunity to work remotely. Coming from a very traditional “corporate” healthcare environment, RP is incredibly progressive in this regard. There is a mutual trust among teams and individuals that we’re all working hard to achieve our collective goals—regardless of where we are located geographically. The flexible work environment also allows RP to recruit and retain top talent across all departments, because the practice is not limited to a single geography. Bravo, RP, for bucking the traditional workplace standards! I am very pleased with my decision to join RP, and I look forward to serving the practice for many years to come!

Cons

None that I can think of.
