Pros

WFH, Equipment sent to you

Cons

Training is a crammed 6 week session that you learn absolutely nothing for what is actually needed to "being on the floor", Comm is you have to sell 260k just to get an extra (pre taxed) 1,500 on your check, Calls are inquiries but you also have to answer Customer Service calls and fix itinerary your colleagues have done with no financial credit, Cold Calling, You are told that people chose a certain package but really everything you do is custom and you will spend 20 mins on a package for them to call back and someone else gets the sale, People steal each other sales with frivolous rules, managers are spread thin so you will be on hold with someone just because you are waiting for help, the job is you finding the answer in the many resources you have, If you don't know the answer the Travel Agents will eat you alive, people burn out and either leave or find a job elsewhere in the company. If you want to have anxiety and worry that you didn't follow every single rule to the T and take personal record of your own quotes, packages etc (there is no method to keep track of personal sales) then you can handle this job.

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns and feedback. With our company employing more than 250 staff in five countries and 33 US states, our Account Executive role is a highly competitive position that has the potential for unlimited earnings based on success and productivity. Beyond our comprehensive six-week paid training program, our account executives receive continuous feedback and training to maximize their success in the company. We have a well-structured support system in place for our account executives and frequently use “ride-alongs” and other techniques to ensure live training and coaching while on the phones. We do not cold call – all our outbound calls are from customers or travel advisors who have requested a quote or information prior. Considering our important relationship with travel agents, we want to ensure that they can meet their clients’ needs effectively and easily with our fully customizable and unique rail vacation packages. When our staff come to us seeking additional assistance or training, we have ample resources available to educate and assist them as they work towards improvement. I encourage you to reach out to me or anyone in our HR Department at 949-876-6747 or HR@railbookers.com to learn more and continue the dialogue, as we are committed to your success with the company and strive for a positive workplace culture with all of our employees. Thank you, Ja’Net McGhee- Employee Engagement Manager

Pros

I started working with YLG as part of an outside company, but was never treated as an outsider. Once I began working here officially, the transition was seamless and I was treated like a longtime employee. The work is hard and at times frantic but at the same time is positively challenging and rewarding, especially if you have a positive, solutions-oriented attitude. Management is in tune with what is going on at all levels and is always open to change and improvement.

Cons

I would say that one of the main cons I can see is sometimes job functions don’t match with titles and sometimes it’s not clear who to go to for what.

Thank you so much for your kind words and honesty about your experience with YLG. I am happy to hear about the way you were treated when working outside and inside the company. Our rapid growth in the Travel industry over the last few years has indeed created some challenges, but has also resulted in opportunities for all. If there are no challenges in a company, I find that it usually means they are not growing or evolving. Thank you for your point on job functions not matching employees titles at times. This is an effect of our rapid growth and focus on cross-training all staff. We believe in a team work environment that has a direct focus on the customer. At certain times of the year, this means one department may need help another. This ensures not only that our customer gets the service they deserve, but also that our team gets cross trained and learns multiple skills. This helps our team members easily advance and get promoted. We have many staff come into our company in one role, but now run a completely different department they didn’t know anything about when they first started. With the cross training and team work environment, they have now found what they love (that is why I have been here for over 15 years!) In regards to your advice, we will always be on the lookout for great talent at all levels. Thank you again for your comments and for being part of our team! Deb Donahue HR Manager

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Yankee Leisure Group. I am sorry you didn’t come away with a perfect experience but thank you for being a part of the team. I would like to respond to your opinions on working at YLG because I think you accurately highlight some great positives that come with working for the company but also seem to contradict those points you mention later in your review. For example, you rightly praise the opportunities for growth as a positive aspect of your employment. I couldn’t agree more. For myself, I’ve experienced amazing personal and professional growth during my six years with YLG, as I’ve moved from the front lines of our sales team to managing a global department. During your time with the company (and my own), YLG has grown tremendously from our humble beginnings in Beverly, Massachusetts to offices in California, London, and Sydney, Australia. That growth has created advancements for all of us, including numerous new roles, departments and opportunities to grow personally and professionally as I’m sure you’ve observed. The majority of our staff have been promoted from within, which is a testimony to our commitment to helping team members both learn and grow. Not to mention, the travel opportunities are amazing. You must remember that each year everyone on our staff is given the chance to experience one of our vacation packages firsthand at no expense. These trips take them to national parks in North America, as well as sought-after destinations in Italy, the Swiss Alps, Japan and many more spectacular places around the world. With all that in mind, I was a little surprised to see you mention in your review (and contradict your earlier praise for growth opportunities) that personal growth was a challenge. The truth is, personal and professional growth go hand in hand as a result of the hard work and dedication of our staff in lifting up our organization. And as we do, our individual team members with it. In reflecting on your two years with YLG, I would reconsider that those two opinions seem to be at odds with each other. Thank you again for your review, and please reach out at any point if you would like to discuss this further. Yours, Andrew L. Channell Senior Director of Product 978-867-1122
