Overworking teachers and no accommodations for students

Pros

The insurance is pretty good. The students are great.

Cons

Pay is not great. The days are too long and there's no flexibility to accommodate students with a variety of needs and experiences. Behavior management is very much like a militant, prison pipeline style and there is no flexibility for teaching styles or ideas outside of the curriculum that is created by people who are not educators. there is a lot of bullying from the higher ups towards the teachers.

Pros

CICS Avalon South Shore is an amazing school. The teachers work hard and prepare their scholars for college. At CICS Avalon the scholars learn strong academics, social skills and discipline strategies to help them be prepared with skills to grow in their education. Scholars with Diverse Learning needs are instructed using top of the line remediation programs to close their gaps that has been identified in a full evaluation. The Diverse Learning team provide comprehensive Speech/Language Services, Occupational Therapy, Academic Remediation and Social Work services if needed.
