Our business is growing, changing and moving fast. We know this growth, while exciting, can be hard to manage, but we take mental health very seriously. We’ve put many programs in place and added new benefits to support our teams, including: Modern Health memberships, which includes 6 coaching sessions per year, 6 therapy sessions per year, up to 6 tele-counseling sessions with an in-house Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and access to our in-house, culturally integrated, and ICF-certified coach specialists.

Pros

Great perks and benefits. I love how the company continues to foster the entrepreneurial spirit that the CEO and Leadership team drive constantly.

Cons

The HR Department in NYC is very disorganized and cliquey. Recruiting is very dysfunctional and we have missed out on some great candidates because of it. My personal experience is that interviews have popped up on my calendar without warning or context. The Chief People Officer is never around in the office and when she is, always seems like her head is in the clouds and distracted and doesn’t care about the employees well being.

As you can imagine, I was very disappointed to hear of your less than stellar experience of HR and will take your feedback to heart. Over the course of a bit more than a year that I have been here, we have been working tirelessly to transform our HR team from a smaller conventional team to a larger, industry-leading team. As part of that transformation, we have a new vision we are striving for. We look at the end-to-end experience of an employee from the moment they interview to the moment they become an alumni. We want our employee experience to be as wonderful as our client experience. In order to do that we have hired several more HR Business Operations Partners who are placed around the network. To service employees better as we grow we are transitioning them from working by Operating Company to working by Function so the HR Business Partner can go deep in that function and really know those individuals and their needs well. That means the person who knows your function best may not be sitting in your office. However, rest assured anyone in HR Business Operations should be able to help to get you on the right track. We have added a wholly new People Experience function and a dedicated team to oversee the relaunch of our Site Leaders program. We have evolved our Fourth Trimester Program (when you return to work after being out on parental leave we give you a coach to work with you and your manager ease the transition back to work), launched a new performance development approach, hired the first Director of Learning & Development to spearhead our new curriculum offerings, piloted a new onboarding system and updated content, launched multiple employee resource groups, established Springboard, our program where we offer your own personal executive coach to turbo-boost your career and so much more. We have also hired an additional five recruiters to compliment the amazing team we already have. Talent Acquisition continues to be a work in progress as we hire hundreds of people annually to support the 20% plus growth we’ve experienced. At any given time we have over a hundred candidates moving through our system so coordination alone is a herculean effort. We endeavor to offer a “white glove” experience for both candidates and our employees as we work to hire the very best. The fact that you have experienced invites on your calendar without a heads up can be helped and we will work on it ASAP. We can endeavor to send a note with more context prior to the invite landing. We have fifteen offices around the world and I personally try my hardest to visit each one at least once per year. So as much as it pains me not to spend more time in the New York office, my travel to other offices precludes me from spending more time at my desk. I hope this response provides a little more context around the HR team and what we are building. If you’d like to discuss any of these items in more detail, I truly welcome a face-to-face dialogue.
