Health Care Benefits Lacking

Pros

I am a 3 year RealPage associate and I really love working here. I adore the people in my group and I love coming to work every day. For the first time in a long time I am really happy in my career. One thing that is causing me to question my position here is our current health care plan. I have heard many of my peers share the same thoughts that I am about to share.

Cons

The premium, top of the line health care option was removed in 2016. As a person with a long term health issue, this has cost me an unbelievable amount of money this year. I went from a co-pay program with a fair deductible and reasonable out of pocket limit to a 33% higher deductible, a 33% higher out of pocket and a 20% total invoice copay instead of low flat copay amounts. I could easily manage my health care and my illness on the 2014 and 2015 programs. The reduced plan I was forced to take for 2016 has cost me more money than my salary increase from last year, so in essence, my income is diminishing this year instead of increasing. I have come to the point where I am refusing to complete needed medical tests that my doctor wants to perform because I cannot afford the increased payment requirement with my reduced health care plan. I can only hope that skipping these early detection tests does not end up costing me and the company more in the long run if my health deteriorates due to my need to delay these tests until I can afford my 20% portion. It shocks me that a company of over 4000 associates has a healthcare plan that does not compare well with other companies of our size. I am also shocked at how the options drastically changed in a one-year period. RealPage is a good place to work, however, if you are considering joining the company and you or your family have any health issues, be sure to look at the health care plan closely and compare with other offers before joining RealPage. Other SaaS companies may have better plans that will more positively impact your annual income.

Thank you for your post. Could I offer a suggest? Please call Shelly Pattman, Sr Mgr of Benefits and have her do a deep review on your benefits and how it can be managed. For the longest time, people thought plan A, which you paid much more was the answer. What we have learned is that the HDHC plans are actually much better cost wise for families who have health issues. Once the deductible is met, then the plan pays out 100% within network. We benchmark our plans with our peers and in Dallas. If you would like I will give you the phone number of our benefits broker at Lockton and they can walk you through the math. We are very competitive. Thank you for acknowledging that RealPage is a good place to work. I can also assure you that no one in this company is getting million dollar bonus. You can check that fact in our published proxy. Again, thank you for your post and suggestions. One thing I think will do is post our benefit plan cost on Linked In so people can judge the pricing for themselves...Thanks Kurt Twining

Pros

Career advancement - training - skill set diversification - sufficient income to support a family I worked for Kigo, a company of RealPage. I have nothing but positive things to say about the people within the Kigo organization specifically, top to bottom. The environment was high-energy, competitive but teamwork oriented, and Sales Training and Education was both directly and generally applicable in the careers of its beneficiaries. I recommend Kigo to any entry level Sales Professional, but be prepared to play the corporate game. As much as Kigo flexes is startup roots (seriously, the culture is fantastic), it's a RealPage company now, and that's what leads us to the Cons section.

Cons

Sales production more important than product - customer retention not a priority - commission department is inconsistent - promises often not upheld No matter how productive you are, how much you care about the success of the business, or how much heart and soul you pour into your role, your team and your legacy, you'll always be a small fish in the RealPage pond. It's not their fault - it's corporate. There's a board, there are shareholders, and there are numbers that simply have to be hit in the interest of stock price sustainability. This is not a unique story, but it's accurate. When you finally decide to depart, you'll do so respectfully, cordially, and with gratitude for the career advancement opportunities RP provided you during your time there because you're a professional. That said, just leave - they won't pay you for anything once they know you're out. For me, it was 2 weeks of apparently pro bono work for which I received no salary pay, and several sales for which no commission was paid. In retrospect I should have just taken a vacation.

Some good employees and offer a large diverse company that offers a lot of positions. Different locations. Not much more positive I can think of.

Cons

No sense of appreciation for employees. There is horrible internal communication breakdown, any employee value is non existent, constantly changing

Thank you for your post and your years of service. With out knowing more details, its hard to be specific, but I sense you were a remote employee. I do agree with you that separations should be done face to face where possible. It wouldn't be fair to say the company is outsourcing most of their positions overseas as 60% of workforce is in the US. Please give me a call as I will personally try to help you as you transition. I realize the separation is upsetting, again please call me at 972-820-4016 and I will reach out to my networks to help you where I can. Sincerely, Kurt Twining
