Pros

Thanks to the acquisition of Reddwerks by Dematic, this company has the resources of a multinational corporation but the culture and feel of a startup company. We get to tackle the biggest challenges in the supply chain industry head-on, alongside some of the smartest individuals in the business. There's a powerful sense of community and openness about the work we do. When others are struggling on a project, we can step in to help knowing that they'll be around to support us when we're struggling. I feel like I can go to any individual in this company, ask what they're working on, and learn a little more both about them and the kind of work they do. As far as I can tell, office politics aren't a thing here. We're respectful, open, and have plenty of avenues to air grievances if we have any. The company had a history of stressful longterm visits to customers to implement software. Today however many projects deploy software remotely from Austin. Projects that do require trips onsite tend to take three to four days whereas they used to take up to three or four weeks. Work/life balance has improved tremendously thanks to this. We attract incredible talent thanks to our excellent recruiting strategies. Your co-workers know and appreciate the value of hard work, and I can almost guarantee you won't be the smartest person in the room in team meetings. Our long-term employees have been excellent mentors and can answer almost any question you can throw at them.

Cons

The company's inability to fill a Dev manager position has caused some disorganization in the development department. I personally think it's factored in to several developers leaving the company over the past few months. While documentation of our codebase is improving, a lot of "tribal knowledge" is undocumented and is only accessible through speaking with some long-term employees. Post-project recaps and opportunities to share high level knowledge ("Brown bags") could go a long way to disseminating information, but no formal program has been put in place.
