The students are lovely. Great benefits. Though not worth the toll of the toxic environment, IMO.

Cons

Problematic relations between faculty and staff. College leadership turns a blind eye to those committing blatant abuse of power. Widespread toxic work environment. Chronically overworked staff.

Elitist Culture of political correctness and passive-aggressiveness (good luck resolving conflicts) The place is full of political hires who were hired and retained on the basis of their "diversity" but who are inept and ultimately bring down the capacity of their teams All about who you know, not your talent or contributions Leaders lead via whimsey and not strategy Zero accountability - coworkers are blatantly fraudulent (time theft, time sheet fraud, abuse of pto) and are not held accountable Management gossips and avoids taking responsibility, passes work off to others

Reed is an amazing academic institution! You will work with a wonderful assortment of well educated people.

Cons

The Community Safety Department's management , in particular, is more concerned with hiding in their office's and avoiding all forms of work and accountability. In a department of 15 officers there are 7 managers/administrators, nearly 1 manager for every 2 officers, yet we have officers working alone while in charge of the safety of over 2000 students, faculty and staff. The disregard to safety and amount of money wasted by Community Safety Managers is REPREHENSIBLE.
