Pros

Texas has a low cost of living, so it is easier to buy a house here than in L.A. or New York. The rank and file are genuinely enthusiastic about movies, animation, their work, etc.

Cons

No overtime, no comp time, very little compensation for the overly frequent crunch times. Projects are grossly underbid in order to land them, and then managed by production management teams that admit they don't know much about the work being done. The company will lie to clients when they cannot deliver on their promises, leaving workers feeling slimy. Senior management are standoff-ish at best, aloof and rude more often. Company sells itself as a family-friendly studio where you get ownership, except that you never get to see your family with the long hours and they stopped offering stock options years ago.

Pros

Learn lots if you are fresh out of school. Pretty cool projects, and a decent work environment. People are nice, and the younger crowd likes to hang out quite a bit. For staff people, you can potentially stay for a very long time, and live a pretty normal life.

Cons

It's in Texas, so there is no other studios here. They know this and take advantage of it. For younger people, Dallas is a very boring city. Production management are severely retarded, and capable of ruining projects due to poor communication skills. They will never turn down projects and you get stuck working on things that you will not want to show. Client management is horrible, and they will bend over backwards.

Pros

Reelfx has many knowledgeable people who are also great to work with. There is a real sense of community among everyone and a desire to share and grown knowledge.

Cons

Still some trouble bringing in new people as quickly as is needed sometimes, and this can put unneeded pressure on individual team members who have a broad knowledge base.
