Great pay and benefits. Teaching hospital provides for great learning opportunities. Excellent for skills experience. Many units newly remodeled.

Cons

Poor management that doesn't take patient safety into consideration. Very heavy nurse:patient ratios (1:8). Acuity of patients not considered in staffing. No support from upper management. Unit specific: Verbal and physical harassment from management. Always understaffed. Nurses expected to do jobs of PCA's in addition to their own responsibilities. Poor attendance. Favoritism. Discrimination. Very political.

Cons

Fiscal woes. Highly-politicized. Inept or corrupt management. Memphis continues its general decline into the Mississippi River.
