Absolute mess with no idea what they’re doing

Pros

For the most part the people you’re working with are very kind and the recruitment team (before they were all laid off) did an amazing job of hiring people committed to the company values (even if management don’t follow them).

Cons

No one has any idea what they are doing. People are hired with no experience of the countries they will be working on as there is no organisation to begin with. Just get people in then figure it out rather than assess gaps and plan territories accordingly. Most people are a payroll, benefits, or onboarding expert for 8 countries they have never worked on before and are trained by people with no experience either. You will never have time to learn anything properly before being in the deep end with angry employees and clients chasing for answers. The company sees themselves as a software company but they are an HR consultancy with very little experience in global hiring and employment who are then trying to educate clients and employees about hiring/working in an unfamiliar country. It is a recipie for disaster. It is awful how many mistakes there are with pay, benefits, legal confusion and employees saying this isn’t compliant in this country etc. it’s too much too soon with the number of countries being opened with no plans testing or training of those countries. I was shocked at the margin of error that was allowed when it comes to employment and pay. Plus alongside this Management randomly announcing things like “no more Google sheets from today” with no thought of that impact or plan to transfer the reliance on Google sheets onto the software is really not pragmatic or useful leadership and causes immense stress for people trying to do their jobs.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share this feedback. We wholeheartedly agree with you that our recruiting team does an amazing job finding team members who fit our core values (Kindness, Ownership, Excellence, Ambition, and Transparency). Our goal is to provide great, equitable job opportunities anywhere in the world, and that starts with our own internal hiring practices. We always hire a person because we believe their values and core competencies will help us improve. Some roles do require deep domain experience; others may require the right mindset and applicable work experience / skills. But whatever the role, we offer an extensive onboarding program to ensure baseline product and services knowledge. And if someone needs more information, we offer training modules and rich documentation on a variety of topics. We’re immensely proud of our internal expertise. Our experts in local employment laws, employee lifecycle, mobility, benefits, payroll, and so many others have been the bedrock of our success, and though we’ve had growing pains like most companies that expand exponentially, we always work hard to address them quickly. I think the loyalty of our customers, the numerous product and workplace awards we’ve won, and the dedication of our team speaks to our commitment to solve tough problems so we can make a positive impact on the world. Zero care and transparency

Pros

Work remotely. That’s all. Don’t bother.

Cons

For a company whose core values are care and transparency, Remote does not believe nor do they follow through it. If you want stress and uncertainty in your life where the top management change their minds every 3 days, then maybe this is for you. If you want to be treated like a human, stay away from this company, don’t say i didn’t warn you.
