Disappointing company

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Good scheduling flexibility Asynchronous work Unlimited PTO

Cons

1. Some managers lack prior experience and come from a different field. 2. The company's proclaimed transparency with employees is extremely misleading. 3. Company values are inconsistently followed and vary greatly depending on the team. 4. Feedback requested by management is not genuinely considered and can be used against employees. 5. Employees are expected to be highly autonomous and prioritize asynchronous work, which can hinder team communication and limit opportunities to seek help or opinions. 6. Junior developers have limited opportunities for growth due to the absence of clear structure or guidelines, and managers are often chosen based on tenure rather than experience. 7. Despite claims of promoting work-life balance, the company imposes heavy workloads and high demands, disregarding personal life during tight deadlines and expecting flawless performance.

leadership from hell

Pros

remote work and good equipment

Cons

i had a team lead with 2 or 3 pull requests for the entire year. literally didn't get any support from them. drove me to burnout and ultimately quitting. in addition to that, engineers were left off to "figure it" out and embrace the startup ways of working, resulting in the biggest, most bloated mess of a codebase i have seen in my professional career. ceo was fine and i think he has a somewhat good vision for the company, but oh my lord the CTO is the biggest most pretentious dbag ever.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We value all feedback and will take your comments into consideration as we continually strive to make Remote a great place to work. We're glad to hear that you found value in our commitment to remote, asynchronous work and project opportunities, as well as our focus on diversity, equity, belonging and inclusion. We aim to ensure that these values are not just words but are lived by every day. The decision in July 2022 to eliminate roles on some of our teams was a very difficult one, and we’re glad we have never had to do it again since then. Quite a lot has changed in the year-plus since that time, including new C-level leaders, new level of transparency, new career advancement opportunities, and other changes that we believe contribute to Remote’s long-term success, nurture trust and support the culture.
