Pros

The only good thing? You get paid very well. Let's see - other than that - can't think of anything.

Cons

Republic Services is a company that is struggling to find an identity. They introduced a new brand last year but the teams responsible for carrying it out have no clue what they are doing. The corporate culture is horrible. People just sit in their offices all day and stare at the computer. They like to keep things like a library – cold and quiet. When I started here, I didn’t receive any training. Instead, I was told to “Jump in and figure it out.” And, as it turns out, my supervisor is one of the most miserable and unkind people I've ever met. I have never worked for a company that encourages employees to do so little with their skills and expertise. Management at the corporate office has no idea how to leverage the talents and skills of their employees. This company spends so much time recruiting top talent from major companies. But once those people get here, they see that the company is a dead end. There is no innovation here. They rolled out this mantra, “Our customers come first!” which they are attempting to get everyone onboard. Welcome to the 21st century, Republic Services! That is a given in any other company. They also introduced this diversity council, thinking they can fool employees into believing they are a “culturally diverse and inclusive culture.” Not so! The entire committee is made up of senior-level white men who sit around collecting fat paychecks for doing absolutely nothing. This may be one of the largest companies in Phoenix, but they act like a mom and pop shop.

Pros

The building is in a nice location with plenty of places to eat lunch.

Cons

Unless you are going in as a consultant, don't waste your time. There are groups of consultants that have been there for years. They are truly running the organization. Management can't hire them as they are too expensive, can't get rid of them because they hold all the key positions. For this reason as an employee you can count on zero chance of advancement and close to zero raise.

Pros

Interesting work, opportunities to move up due to turnover

Cons

Lots of turnover which can be a good thing when trying to move up in the company, bad thing if looking for a stable work life. Don't be fooled by the positive reviews written by HR, and avoid any position related to finance or accounting in corporate
