Pros

Great advancement opportunities because the turn over is so high.

Cons

Nursing management is terrible. Lots of crime on campus and violate offenses to staff.

Pros

The benefits is the only okay thing working for research.

Cons

Senior leaders are trash. Profits over patient is 100% the mentality. They would rather put patients and ICU nurses in bad situations then turn away a patient and loose the money. The only people who work there are trapped in contracts or vested to far in that it’s not worth leaving

Pros

Triple crown. Level 1 trauma, stroke, and STEMI certified. If you want to work with high acuity, complex, critical patients, this is the place for you. Rewarding patient population to work with. RMC accepts all PTs- which the other surrounding level 1 hospitals do not. A lot of patients that you will work with have minimal resources and a lack of access to education, preventative medicine, reliable shelter. These patients stand the most to gain from the care and support we can offer them as healthcare providers. The ICU is phenomenal. Amazing team work. The burn unit is the same- they take ICU patients regularly as well as all levels of care.

Cons

They do not staff to acuity. The acuity at RMC is high. Across all levels of care. I regularly hear traveler RNs talk about how shocking it is that a patient isn’t assigned a higher level of care. The progressive care unit takes ventilators at a 3:1 ratio. You can have a patient on an insulin drip and 3 other patients (4 on a bad day) and no PCT and your charge is in staffing with a full team of patients. The emergency department staffing is atrocious. The case management team is also task saturated and spread thin trying to cover entire floors/ multiple units per one CM. You’re taking care of higher acuity, patients, often with complex psychosocial needs, and you as the healthcare worker are given less resources, less staff support, lower wages and incentives, etc than our counterparts.
