Pros

Challenging environment that really promotes professional growth if you're willing to take it on. Working with very intelligent and creative students in all aspects of your job.

Cons

Lower pay relative to other universities. Difficulty understanding senior management's decisions despite attempts at communicating vision. Too much seperation between groups at the same company.

Pros

The cost of living in Houston is low, thereby allowing a nice life off a postdoc salary. There are some parks around that are nice to go to, and free performances during the summer at an outdoor theater. Winter here is pleasant, 60F most of the time.

Cons

It's hot during the summer in Houston. Hot and sticky. Muggy. Big city, so you need a car to get around. Houston is very cliquish, you won't find it a melting pot.
