Pros

Upper management very friendly to the employees. Go into very good detail when explaining something so you don't have to guess what they want. They try to get you involved in every aspect of the projects. Looks to be a very good company for upward growth. A very family oriented company to work for, they take work-life balance to heart here.

Cons

Lack in the technology area (still use paper time cards and scale drawings with a ruler). They could invest some money in that department. It would help with gathering information more quickly so more tasks could be taken on.

Employee owned, but employee input not wanted

Pros

You do get stock in the company that has historically done quite well.

Cons

Like the title says, it is an employee-owned company but the management only pretends to seek input from the "owners." Employee participation group meetings are a joke. The management has the attitude, "You are an owner, but don't expect to have any input into how we run the company!" The only way to advance in the company is to leave and then get hired back to a higher-level job.

Pros

The ESOP program can be great if you stay to get fully vested. Good variability between office work and field work, if you like to spend some time on project sites. Runzheimer plan offered as a supplement to requiring a newer car; the program is nice if you don't get abandoned with a car payment.

Cons

Little to no flexibility for office hours. Minimal benefits outside of ESOP shares. Started off only two weeks of vacation and one week of sick leave, no rollovers. Workplace atmosphere not very professional. Upper management not afraid to fire employees without much of a plan. UM also willing to force employees into work they don't want to do because they don't want to find the employees elsewhere.
