Pros

Some flexibility in prioritizing tasks, exponentially easier if you train your associates properly, decent vacation time, average compensation for hours worked.

Cons

Recent cuts in labor hours allowed with same level of performance and customer service expected. Stores are often run with 2 employees (manager and cashier), allowing for zero time to assist customers when needed. Directives change constantly (i.e. what is okay one week is not permitted the next week and is ever-changing). Little communication from the top on some important directives, so you end up looking ignorant when approached by an outside vendor regarding the issue in question.

Pros

Some of the pros of working at Rite Aid are its a fairly easy job. You can advance in the company. Its a very relaxed environment . I am a twenty year old associate who is being promoted to a supervisor when i turn 21 in a few months. I feel like the people i work with recognize when i do a good job and enjoy working there.

Cons

The company is extremely cheap. They treat the associates like slaves. If you are an associate at Rite Aid you are looked at as a dime a dozen. They will start you out at minimum wage and give you one raise a year which is 2% 3 if you are lucky. They have changed so much to eliminate costs, they have demoted assistant managers to supervisors. Instead of hiring consultants they use the employees to do that job and call it the Cultural Change group. Compared to what the competitors are paying versus Rite Aid i am extremely unsatisfied. In a couple months i take on a lot of responsibility for less than a 2 dollar raise when i would make more if i worked at CVS or Walgreens as a cashier. Rite Aid is more concerned about catching associates stealing they have cameras in all the places where we handle money but people are stealing thousands of dollars worth of merchandise in the aisles daily.

Pros

As far as the store I am in there are a lot of good things. The management team is fair and tries to support you with what ever you have going on. We are a family in this store.

Cons

Management above the store manager and beyond all the way to corporate give the impression that they have not the slghtest idea of what is really going on in the real world. They do not back any of their employees when it comes to unruly customers or customers who are outright cheating. They expect us to work with inferior equipment and then wonder why some things don't get done.Instead of going out and buying two bankrupt companies they should have used that money to upgrade equipment and stores. Now they are insulting our intelligents by issuing signs and photos on how to bag merchandise and how to unload a truck. Give me a break, I have been in retail for 30 years and have learned this stuff already. How much did that cost the company and what efficiancy expert did they pay for that.?
