Pros

Managers in my division are dedicated career path support. They actually take performance reviews and feedback in the interim seriously. For a big org that is slow on change, they're not afraid to change course if needed opportunities to take a leadership role, work with smart people.

Cons

Its still a big corporation. Lots of process, and decision by committee isn't always the best way to adapt to new technology, etc. Also, some managers like to take feedback to the extreme, provide too much and stifle new ideas on how to improve operations.

Pros

While working at Robert Half I have been given the opportunity to work with many talented people. Unfortunately, most of the talented people eventually left the organization due to the poor morale in the Ottawa office and the lack of leadership by senior management. The company is wiling to give inexperienced people a chance to start their careers. Robert Half is viewed by many other agencies in town as the "training ground" for recruiters. People get started there but eventually leave. Great location in downtown Ottawa! Good benefits, however RH does not provide any financial support for higher education. They provide tuition funding for the people that work for through them on contract but not their own employees.

Cons

The Ottawa branch of Robert Half has a reputation of being one of the most unorganized offices in Canada. The morale is very low and the turnover rate is shockingly high. When I started working at Robert Half I was told that the training program was amazing. I had high hopes that I would learn from some of the best in the industry. However, I quickly learned that the person who leads the training program in Ottawa was sloppy, unorganized and not focused on helping people succeed. It seems that Robert Half, at least in Ottawa, needs new leadership in this department. Qualified, talented and intelligent people should be leading, not those who have simply "paid their dues". None of the people in the top seats had any sort of education that related to the business and had just spent most of their careers working for Robert Half. Another big problem in this office is the fact that there are many inappropriate relationships. Senior Managers hire people who are related to them and then give them special treatment, even when performance is poor. Perhaps the mangers in this office have difficulty understanding what "conflict of interest" means. This would not be surprising considering that many of them have difficulty spelling or using proper grammar. Salaries are low and management is does not keep up with current industry trends. They do not even follow the compensation structures outlined in their own publications. I think it's safe to use the term "hypocritical" because any manager who reads this review will probably have difficulty understanding what it means.
