Sales Associate (Kiosk)

Pros

- Met great people via the intraoffice blog - You can learn with the software all day - The product really is good.

Cons

- Sales goals are typically so high that commission is impossible. The wage is pretty low, but it might be okay for retired folks or students. - The call center has a lot more leeway than the kioskers; they cut the price way deeper than we're allowed to, so we lose sales. - There are certain procedures they use that undercut the public trust in sales associates. Mix this with the fact that we're sandwiched between kiosks that aren't reputable, and people have a hard time seeing us as product experts. - Sales Associates are under a lot of pressure, but their skills and experience are grossly undervalued. They're product experts, great at selling, in touch with the company, and know the customers personally. - TOTALe is necessary to learning, but it's never populated. It's a gripe against the product, but it causes returns, and it's definitely a turning point with the software.

Pros

One of the best language-learning products on the market. Strong support for all sales staff.

Cons

Short-sighted retail management strategies. Frequent (every 6 months) regressive changes to commission structure. Distrust between sales departments.

Pros

Great product Passionate product development team Good technical and customer service team Energetic and creative enviornment

Cons

Management too distant from customer experience and did not support customer satisfaction Unrealistic assessment of market potential which led to unrealistic revenue expectations Aggressive and intimidating sales management style was supported from senior-to-mid managment level. Using fear to manage employees can lead to high turnover and low morale. This style was implemented from senior level sales management down to mid-level. And, I believe, is part of the reason for the high turnover.
