I had a job is about all I can say.

Cons

Very few departments are structured to allow employees to advance and grow. HR is not progressive or innovative. Boredom was the biggest challenge. Be aware that the city opted out of paying into social security so you will be subject to the windfall elimination provision which will impact your financial future as you will not be eligible for your full benefit amount. The union reps are useless and never negotiated a decent wage especially for the lowest paid employees.

Every minute of your time is spoken for. Take a minute too long on a phone call and you’re in trouble.

Cons

Controlling IT senior management and CIO. No empowerment of staff and mid-level management. Toxic department culture. Collaboration and innovation stifled due to micromanaging. No open communication nor active listening by senior management.
