Pros

Discount was good, getting to see the new merchandise as it rolled off the truck was exciting, store managers get a company paid trip once per year for meetings but most of the meetings were a joke.

Cons

Constantly being badgered about program execution and being told to call other stores to see what they do to be successful, so you do and they flat out tell you they're not even running the programs. Your DM never has a nice thing to say about your store and will pick and pick until he can find something wrong and then unravel it into a lack of MOD execution. Not very good raises unless you're a part of the "good ole boy system" Ross still uses. Your authority as a manager is compromised by corporate because as soon as you have an associate or member of management call in on you, your DM will step in and take the situation over no matter how right you are for performance managing the person. The only way you can terminate an associate is for stealing, they all know it, and the all use that knowledge to do whatever they want. The associates end up running that store, not the management. Ross has the highest turnover rate of ANY company I've ever worked for before.

Pros

the only pro was that the salaries are very competitive

Cons

There is no work/life balance- they expect you to work late and bring work home every night. Buyers are not trained to be managers and have no idea how to speak to, train and develop those working for them. This was the most hostile and abusive environment I have ever worked in.

Pros

Lots of growth potential in both the Ross Dress for less and dds chains.

Cons

Positions may be listed as open on job board postings, but decisions made prior to applicants review. Not fair and open, and not all leaders model the professional behavior they shoudl as leaders.
