Great people + culture have Rover poised for continued success

Pros

I've been incredibly impressed with both the business acumen, as well as the friendliness of the people I work with. At Rover they really live their values (they are part of conversations I have every day, not just on a web site or poster). At the same time folks at Rover are very focus on building and growing a successful, sustainable business. I get to work with nice, smart and hard-working people (a tough combination to find!) across a variety of functions. Oh, and bonus is dogs in the office - just lightens the mood and keeps things fun and friendly!

Cons

The company is relatively 'lean' -smartly so I believe. I've worked at several of the larger, 'richer' tech companies, and Rover doesn't have all the perks and benefits some of the other big tech companies have. They are still in scrappy start-up mode and I expect they'll remain very cost conscious (appropriately so) for some time. If you are used to working for a richer company and care a lot about the various perks that come with that, this might be a bit of an adjustment/seen as a con.

Pros

-They stock the kitchen full of snacks. -You can sometimes bring your dog into work, but at what cost

Cons

-They do not promote from within -You will never get a raise -Managers and supervisors lack experience and knowledge making the job very difficult -Job roles change at the drop of a hat -Management/HR does not take ownership of their mistakes -Lack of training -Claims to have a wonderful work environment and culture when in reality no one is happy, unless your management getting paid 5x as much as baseline employee, to do absolutely nothing -Lack of professional communication from HR/not maintaining a neutral position -Lack of consistency for WFH - not every employee receives the same benefits/treatment -You have to pay 12 dollars for parking, that is if you want to be safe going to and from work in the early morning and late hours -Being aware of inappropriate employee conduct and doing nothing -Working weekends, holidays with little to no pay compensation -Hours vary from starting at 4am PST to getting off at 10PM PST and 24/7 for the customer experience team -Pay is not at all equal, management chooses who to pay more based on the budget for that moment, not experience or education

Pros

Dogs in the office. If you have a good direct manager, they will give your more projects but can’t pay you more or promote you

Cons

Hire higher caliber people then the role entails and won’t develop them. Instead, hire in higher ups instead. Weigh dev team opinion over all. Way under pay.
