Unethical, Toxic, Sinking Ship

Pros

None that I can think of

Cons

This is a highly toxic environment and if you bring any concerns to upper management you will be pushed out. Promotions are given by a tap on the back not opened up for everyone to apply. State regulations are constantly being violated and new studios are opened in horrible locations and then upper management wonders why no one wants to work there. Conference calls are redundant and non informative. The culture is the worst in retail. Even though Rowan claims not to use a piercing gun, let’s be real, its a piercing gun. It is no different than what Banter, Claires, and Lovisa use. You will constantly deal with angry parents who overpaid for a service and then the jewelry falls out, the ear gets infected, or they simply have buyers remorse for paying such an outrageous price!

Pros

It has been such a unique experience working at Rowan and learning a new skill! This job has been so rewarding seeing happiness on the customers' faces after getting pierced. Definitely different than any other nurse job I had.

Cons

It can be really busy on the weekends and on your feet all day, but you make most of your tips!

Shiny image, messy execution

Pros

The brand looked modern and well-run from the outside.

Cons

Behind the sleek aesthetic was constant confusion. Management changed goals daily, stores were understaffed, and morale was low. Training was inconsistent, and communication between locations was nonexistent. The brand sells empowerment, but inside it’s chaos and burnout. Every day felt like running damage control instead of doing meaningful work.
