Pros

The training and support I got were really helpful to me. It is not at all what you would think of what working at a car dealership would be like. Management really cares about helping the employees grow, which is something I had never experienced before. It is hard work, but the reward was there.

Cons

There are some "old timers" that work there that have been there forever that should probably retire already. As a coworker, it was frustrating to see them get in the way of progress of the team. It didn't stop me personally with my goals, but I could see that they dampened the enthusiasm of some of the younger employees. I saw that customers loved them, so that is why management probably kept them on.

We really want to make sure that our employees have a good family life/work balance but as you cited, when our culture is to always put the customer first, often times longer hours are needed. Your feedback about 5 day work weeks is very important and while we have this schedule set up (always closed on sundays and you get one day off Monday-Friday), we find that it can be hard to miss a day if you have appointments coming in on your scheduled day off. Some great news is that we are currently in the process of trying to figure out a pay plan that would work for having part time sales consultants. Before offering this option, we want to make sure that financially it is going to be equitable for both the employee and the business. Thank you for your comments - great feedback!!

Pros

Work/life balance is ok Job for life as long as you are a low performance individual

Cons

Owner and sons have no business being involved in day to day operations. Beware! Management is looked at as the enemy by owner. The inmates are running the asylum. Avoid at all costs if you like to rock and roll, cause all your gonna get is a Jug Band!

Royal defines good performance as how many customers we keep, not how much money we make. It is very easy to find a different organization that is "Profit and Performance above everything," but our experiences have taught us that Tucson is too small to have the type of staff that is comprised of sales sharks. The long term goal of Royal is to consistently deliver superior service to one customer at a time so that long term there is more referral and repeat business.
