Pros

Downtown Chicago office is nice.

Cons

Garbage client base, example: clients in affordable housing i.e. the ghetto clients. These clients don’t even adhere to proper GAAP accounting and RB is always catering to them, doing their books while auditing. Some Managers don’t even have their CPA and are getting paid manager salary. Some of them work remotely and aren’t even available for staff. Most of the Managers have a very limited knowledge about industries, no public clients. RB does not have good training or support for staff at any levels. Work papers are a complete joke- they are trying to act like they can compete with the Big Four in terms of training, knowledge in various industries, and client base but they aren’t remotely close to it. Documentation is laughable here, how we pass peer review is quite astonishing.

Pros

Very intelligent and knowledgeable staff that provide great value to their clients. Firm is a tight community and allows staff to start a very successful and rich career through becoming a partner or leaving. Great ties to St. Louis that gives staff unlimited options if they decide to leave and plenty of opportunities to move up within the firm.

Cons

Their busy season is very stressful on workers and doesn’t allow for much of a personal life. You learn so much and get great experience but the hours can be daunting.

Pros

-Nice people who are invested in the success of their clients and projects - great teaming and resource sharing across the firm - overall people at the office at open and warm with a lot of effort to having the team feel close

Cons

- staff pay below competitors - very poor infrastructure in place, inadequate and inconsistent training, poor risk management - longer time to promotion due to conservative leadership - very conservative leadership at top from ST Louis who are stuck in old days of people working their entire lives there to make partner, also on an 80s dress code - terrible benefits, below competitors by a good margin, no paid maternity leave. Instead management just abuses their discretionary PTO policies to give themselves paid leave on maternity while all staff and all non-client facing employees only get unpaid leave
