A bureaucratic nightmare

Pros

Steady pay; and lots of blank space here because of the 20 word minimum, as really the nice uniforms aren't much for helping you pick up chicks or anything.

Cons

Mandatory overtime at the behest of inept dispatchers, and low staffing levels. Miserable working conditions: all interfacility stations are gone, including for nurses. Company is in the process of being sold, so they're milking every last dime out of the people in the field to make the books look more appealing to potential buyers. Company divested itself from the union- which wasn't very effective anyway. No annual raises. No improvements in working condition. Archaic equipment.

Pros

Great stepping stone into a fire department or ambulance company

Cons

Corporate culture lacks engagement with field crews. Lots of drama and politics for sub-par pay and crappy working environment, welcome to private EMS.
