Pros
Great tuition reimbursement, beautiful new buildings, covered parking, a few good genuine nurses that truly care for patients and their well being. Good research hospital.
Cons
To be bullied as a new employee and not have the support of my manager was extremely disheartening. I felt like a kid in grade school-bullied and constant chattering, gossiping, and the cold shoulder wondering what in the world is going on-did I do something wrong, upset somebody? Healthcare requires teamwork, but I was forced to work with minimal help because the nurses & PCTS that have worked together and we're friends ganged up on those they didn't care for. The department's nurse patient ratio is unsafe for both patients and staff, causing constant tension in trying to somehow provide care for all of your patients while completing your work on time or else get chewed out by the unit director and asst. unit director for a min. OT. Some depts are very outdated with malfunctioning or not enough equipment, no hot water in patient bathrooms, dilapidated pt. rooms, etc. Not enough training, unorganized, verbally abusive colleagues-"nurses eat their young." Terrible moral and insensitive nurses. Beware. Disasters that are waiting to happen. Don't risk your license or certification that you worked so hard for.
