Pros

Not much to think of

Cons

Physician leaders in IT (aka "Champions") are horrible. Have serious ego problems and for no reason. Their role is to support IT, instead they humiliate and even complain just as much about IT and EMR. It is terrible, very unprofessional. Believe me, there are other physicians in IT at other organizations who actually support and make their EHR implementations successful.

Pros

The name recognition of the organization. The organization is conveniently located near the expressway. The organization is easily accessible via public transportation.

Cons

Because the organization draws employees from multiple ethnic backgrounds, there are pockets of racism. Many managers are lifers and unwilling to listen to new innovative ideas or employees. Many of the human resources professionals are not employees of the company. As a result, they are not invested in doing what is right but rather in what is expedient. Many departments are not diverse (include African-Americans).

Pros

no holidays or weekends. more consistent hours in outpatient

Cons

RUN AWAY. RUMG Management does not care about their nurses. Outpatient nurses at Rush are constantly being told they make "enough" compared to surrounding hospitals but they never take into consideration how much turnover there is between nurses and medical assistants which leaves loyal staff to be dumped on. They continue to only care about money and not actual quality patient care otherwise they would reward and take care of their loyal staff. Instead nurses with very little experience are now getting hired to clinics and it is SCARY. Many of them have not had adequate jnpatjent experience where their critical thinking and assessment skills allow them to triage and care for patients. My advice is to run far there is a reason why there are constantly ambulatory positions and sign on bonuses. It is because they cannot keep their staff!
