From our CEO’s leadership on ocean plastics to the steps we take to make safe, quality products, we’re working every day to do what’s right for people and the planet. Because we make decisions with careful consideration for the environment and the families who use our products, we recognize that at times, it may feel as though we aren’t moving fast enough. We value the dedication of all SCJ people to work hard every day to help uphold the trust and goodwill we’ve earned from our consumers and communities for more than 130 years.

Pros

Work life balance is pretty decent, and the people on your team can be a joy to work with. There is also an attempt by middle managers to improve the way things are going from a culture and business standpoint, but they are unfortunately failing (more below)

Cons

Without hyperbole, don't work here (and especially in brand marketing). They don't have direction because decisions are made behind closed doors with VP levels and above. The folks at the lowest levels are given no ability to lead without being micromanaged and they aren't compensated very fairly. Salary bumps are dreadful and without bonuses until the manager level (for most, that's 8+ years of experience). The attrition rate is the best example, with most employees below the manager level having turned over at what I would guess is above 60%. They are failing on business and culture on most levels, especially in the Chicago office.

Pros

Family company Profit Sharing Decent benefits

Cons

Management ignores behavior that should result in termination. Employees start late and leave early with no discipline. Pay raises promised with no action taken over a span for 3 and a half years. Morale deteriorating at an alarming rate.
