Meaningful mission derailed by poor leadership that should know better.

Pros

It's difficult to think about the pro's unfortunately. The mission is the usual draw, and people geniunely join to support and get behind supporting seniors. What happens with leadership unfortunately quickly derails and devalues the mission.

Cons

It has to be said, they play with people's lives. Hire you and within weeks they are already looking for someone who could be perceived to be better so planning your exit with your replacement lined up. It's not a one off, and not by just one team. Politics, and the opinion of just one person is the only thing that runs this company. It's a real shame as people truly do want to serve and do good work.

We are sorry to hear about your experience. While each employee’s perspective is unique, the environment you described is not consistent with the culture our leadership is committed to fostering. We work to create a workplace where employees feel respected and comfortable sharing ideas, feedback, and concerns with both their managers and leadership. Our multiple workplace recognitions, including Great Place to Work and Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For, are based on direct feedback from employees across our organization, and we take that feedback seriously. As we continue to grow and expand our mission to serve more vulnerable populations nationwide, we recognize that growth can bring change. Throughout this process, our leadership team has remained committed to transparency, accessibility, and open communication with employees. While we regret that your experience did not meet your expectations, we appreciate the contributions you made during your time with SCAN and wish you continued success in the future.

Pros

The work itself has purpose and directly impacts people.

Cons

At some point, the emotional exhaustion isn't even from the work—it's from everything around it. You're trying to focus, trying to stay present, and then you run into issues that shouldn't even be there... like missing details, unclear next steps, things that should've been handled already. You fix it. Fine. Then something similar shows up again later. And it's like... okay... I just dealt with this. It's not one big breaking point. It's the repetition. The constant interruptions that pull you away from what actually matters. And over time, that just... drains you more than it should.

Pros

Paychecks are twice a month

Cons

Cult mentality. Case Management leadership is completely inexperienced and incompetent. Empty promises and constant gaslighting his employees. Zero structure or direction for case management staff. Processes change constantly without informing staff. The company focuses too much on how to increase member numbers rather than how to effectively take care of the ones they have. Staff and members are dropping like flies for good reason. Stay away

We regret hearing about your negative experience. While we understand that experiences can vary, the environment described does not reflect the culture we strive to maintain at SCAN. As a not-for-profit organization, SCAN’s mission has always been to keep seniors healthy and independent—not to prioritize growth at the expense of care. We know that change, especially during a period of rapid growth, can sometimes create challenges, but leadership alignment and communication remain key areas of focus at SCAN, and we continue to make investments in training to ensure direction is clear and collaboration strong across all departments. And with 91% of employees saying that SCAN is a great place to work according to our Great Place to Work survey—we believe we’re headed in the right direction. That said, as we’re always looking for ways to further strengthen our company culture, our leadership maintains an open-door policy to allow for candid feedback from all levels of the organization with the option to submit anonymously at any time. As you have moved on from SCAN, we wish you the best in your future pursuits.
