Pros

On paper, the benefits look competitive. Many coworkers are deeply committed, compassionate, and genuinely want to provide proper care to patients. That sense of responsibility toward patients is often the only reason people last as long as they do.

Cons

- Constant monitoring of productivity and compliance while personal well being is largely ignored - Excessive workload that shows little concern for rest, recovery, or long term sustainability - Repeated frontline concerns about staffing shortages, broken workflows, and patient care changes that are dismissed or deprioritized - Rigid procedures and performance measures that fail to reflect real life clinical conditions - Widespread micromanagement that creates a culture of mistrust and control - Lack of trust in professional judgment, treating trained clinicians as extensions of policy rather than skilled decision makers - Top down decision making with almost no flexibility or meaningful input from those doing the work - Chronic turnover that adds pressure to remaining staff and deepens burnout - An ongoing cycle of exhaustion and instability that continues unchecked - A clear disregard for work life balance, morale, and long term employee retention

Pros

Helping members and answering their questions was the only part of the job that felt worthwhile. Nothing else stood out as a benefit.

Cons

Anyone who cares about building a real career should stay far away. Advancement here crawls at a painfully slow pace, almost like it is designed to crush ambition. People who pour long, exhausting hours into the work are pushed aside when promotion time comes. The whole system is unfair and maddening. Beware of getting your hopes up.

While we regret hearing about your negative experience, we’re glad to hear that supporting our members felt meaningful to you as serving our members is at the heart of what we do. While we aim to support the development of every Rebel (employee) through training, expanded responsibilities, and opportunities to build new skills, we recognize that career paths can look different depending on the role, timing, and organizational needs. That said, we value the dedication and commitment of every Rebel at SCAN and continuously review how we recognize workplace contributions. With 91% of employees saying that SCAN is a great place to work according to our Great Place to Work survey, we believe we’re headed in the right direction. Our leadership also maintains an open-door policy to allow for candid feedback from all levels of the organization with the option to submit anonymously at any time. As you have moved on from SCAN, we wish you the best in your future pursuits.

Pros

A few coworkers still care enough to support one another, even as everything else crumbles.

Cons

- What was once a mission-focused organization has become a place ruled by fear and arrogance. - Those in charge have no understanding of the actual work, yet constantly interfere and punish anyone who questions them. - Every day feels tense, with people too afraid to speak up or make a mistake. - Communication is broken; vital details are hidden, and departments are turned against each other. - Collaboration is dead, replaced by suspicion and exhaustion. - The constant turnover exposes just how unbearable this workplace has become. - The purpose and passion that once gave meaning to the job have been destroyed by control, favoritism, and indifference.
