Pros

The kids are amazing! They are intelligent, sweet and curious. Most team members are dedicated to the kids and really care about them. The program is the answer to many problems in education.

Cons

Leadership lacks the ability to compensate the staff for their hard work. We are expected to work extremely hard for low wages. Also, the leadership is beginning to look at our kids as a business. It's a serious problem.

Big Emphasis on "optics", cultish at times, management's way or nothing

Pros

The mission and the work they do for students is absolutely incredible

Cons

Lots of times I was done with work early but was told to just sit in the office and wait for hours for "optics". Aka don't leave the office before upper management. Felt like an incredible waste of time and old school. I would say everyone is scared to say anything because when you do, its 90% shot down by upper management because they decide how everything is run at SEO. They had us all chant "together we win" on camera individually multiple times and it felt super forced and cultish.

Stay As Far Away As You Can

Pros

I met a handful of great people and the mission is such an important one.

Cons

Mission isn’t everything. My entire time here has been one of the most terrible employment experiences I have ever had the misfortune of undergoing. You will be undermined, lied to, not provided the support and resources to do your but then leadership will blame you for not doing enough even though they are the biggest barriers to the work. There’s a monopoly on decision making and power. Advancement is based on favoritism. They care about money and numbers more than they do their own staff and executive leadership lacks complete accountability for their own contributions to the poor culture and low morale. Everything is chalked up to people not being “good fits”. Their titles are all over the place, there’s no rationale for salaries or titles. You will have no idea how and where your career can develop here because there are no pathways. Good luck getting professional development.
