Pros

Once you have established a reputation with business development, you can have success working through SM&A. It is a positive thing to be able to decide if you want to take a open job or pass so you can have some time off.

Cons

I signed my hiring paperwork 6 months ago and I have yet to be placed anywhere. I can live with this if I didn't know that SM&A was still actively recruiting staff to perform the same work that I am waiting to do. The waiting is frustrating.

Pros

The engagements offer a broad range of experience in different industries including government agencies and commercial environments, allowing associates to broaden their experience. SM&A consulting staff is comprised of industry experts that support one another in the field and mentor newer associates. SM&A supports its associates to continue professional development through educational courses and certification programs. SM&A offers extremely competitive compensation plans for its employees.

Cons

With some of the engagements, there can be quite a bit of travel but no different from any other consulting firm.

Pay is slightly above average. Payroll and benefits work well.

Cons

Administrative tasks are almost always bungled... Coordination, communication, deployment, hiring, recruiting are dismal for a company this size.

Currently, we are shifting to improvements in technology to improve the various functions you mentioned.
