Good job, Great Place, and Great People

Pros

Nice people and great place to work. The people here are amazing and I must say are some of the nicest people around. There are fun events to get the people engaged and to boost the morale. I also like the freedom that SRA gives to their employees. While still being structured in a corporate environment SRA still has many good qualities that many companies just do not have. All in all I would recommend SRA to anyone looking for a good atmosphere and a great place to build up your resume for those just getting out of college.

Cons

Quiet sometimes, has typical corporate flaws. The place overall is pretty friendly. However, it still has typical corporate flaws. It is very bureaucratic but it tries to seem like it's not. However, you rarely feel like you are "a part" of something at SRA. The company however strives to be the best it can and right now it's making changes that could be for the better or worse. I have found SRA to be a great company and growing rapidly since I have been here. I hope it continues to keep up the good work that it has been.

Not a bad choice late in your career

Pros

SRA offers good benefits compared to the rest of the sector. Employees are afforded quite a bit a autonomy. SRA offers some interesting work opportunities. Good raises were the rule, not the exception. Benefits were almost unmatched at the time - no 401k vesting period, profit sharing cash bonus, good leave schedule along with top notch health care which the company paid more than their fair share of.

Cons

My time there felt static, career development wise. My management didn't seem to know or care what I did specifically - basically "Are you billing contract and keeping the customer happy? OK then." Even my yearly reviews didn't help - I would set goals which management would make no attempt to help me achieve.

Pros

The benefits package is very competitive. The 401K matching is above average, as is the tuition reimbursement. There is also an onsight nurse (very rare) and wellness program. There are frequent newsletters to keep you informed of major news and highlights of the company. This is good for un contractors who work at a customer site.

Cons

Since going public (on the stock market) and the retirement of Dr. Volgenau, the company appears to be losing its sense of family. Also, the trend seems to be to buy new companies and hire in new leaders, instead of nurturing its young talent and developing the leaders of tomorrow.
