      Not a place to advance your career

      Local company with fair benefits

      This organization has no chance of advancement. They prefer to hire from outside, instead of within. The salaried jobs are 9 to 10 hour days, often without breaks or lunch. The hourly jobs insist the nurses take lunch on the clock, even though they really do not get lunch. Administration needs to follow the nurses on the floor and see how they are overwhelmed and without support. The red tape is over the top.There are many committees that bring about little change at a snails pace. Shared governance is not effective. Stay away if you value yourself and career. The culture is against any honesty about what is not working.

      Pros

      Many of the people there are great team members and dedicated to doing their best and in a hospital setting this is so important. Good opportunities for mentorship within the hospital. Opportunities for advancement with in the SSM system. Utilizing 21st century technology to make jobs safer and more efficient.

      Cons

      Scheduling often leaves you in a split week. Pay is not competitive, just so-so. Turnover is very high, and long term staff are often in the dull drums.

      Upper management does not care about the "workers" No compassion. Speaks the Mission, but does not live the mission.
