Pros

There are some incredibly talented, hardworking people at Syspro. Many employees genuinely care about the customers, the product, and doing good work, even when they are not given the stability, resources, or leadership support needed to succeed. I was given ownership of several high-impact initiatives and had the opportunity to build programs that contributed meaningful pipeline and revenue. I am proud of what my team accomplished despite the environment we were working in.

Cons

Job seekers should understand that Syspro is an extremely unstable organization with serious leadership and decision-making problems. In less than a year, my department experienced three reorganizations, multiple layoffs, shifting reporting structures, repeated changes in priorities, and ongoing uncertainty about roles and job security. Teams were regularly restructured before the previous changes had even settled. Executive decisions often appeared impulsive, disconnected from strategy, and made without adequate consideration for customers, employees, or downstream business impact. In one instance, employees were informed that company phone lines had been switched off globally. Customers could no longer reach the business through a basic communication channel, and employees were left to manage the consequences of a decision they had no opportunity to prepare for or influence. This was representative of a broader issue. Decisions with significant revenue, customer, and operational consequences were frequently made by leaders who did not appear to understand the functions they were changing. Teams closest to the work could provide data, context, and recommendations, but that expertise did not consistently influence the final decision. There was also a clear pattern of poor leadership behavior being tolerated when it came from senior executives. Turnover within some teams was persistent, yet the leadership practices contributing to that turnover did not appear to face meaningful accountability. Employees were expected to operate under enormous pressure, absorb the responsibilities of people who had been laid off, and manage constantly expanding workloads with fewer resources. Work-life balance was virtually nonexistent, and unmanageable workloads were treated as normal rather than as a leadership failure. The culture became increasingly toxic and unhealthy. Employees were cautious about speaking honestly, challenging decisions, or raising concerns because the environment felt unpredictable and psychologically unsafe. Leadership frequently spoke about transformation and growth while employees experienced layoffs, burnout, confusion, and a lack of clear strategic direction. I ultimately resigned without another role lined up and walked away from a comfortable salary because the stress, instability, lack of departmental strategy, and unsustainable workload were no longer worth it. Anyone considering an offer should ask direct questions about: - How many reorganizations the department has experienced - Recent layoffs and current team turnover - Whether the position has absorbed responsibilities from eliminated roles - How decisions are made and whether functional leaders have real authority - Expectations around working hours and availability - Why previous employees left the team - Whether pipeline and performance goals were adjusted after budget or headcount cuts - How frequently priorities and reporting structures change I would also strongly recommend speaking with former employees rather than relying only on the version of the culture presented during interviews.
