management turn over is concerning...i believe 5 since established. Tip out structure is by far the worst! Tipped Bartenders recieve 7% of servers tips. They batch drinks, scoop ice into buckets for bottomless beverages while the server provides the service and pours drinks into a glass with ice. The bar position doesnt tip out as much percentage wise. Tips are also taxed at 8% and included on your checks. So ultimately the bartenders end up with double take home pay than a server. Rule of thumb is tips are gifts, and given based off services provided...hard to justifying giving money away for a job your doing yourself. Keep in mind we all make an hourly wage for required duties whether they be a bartender batching margaritas , or a server batching and dispursing non alocholic beverages...all beverages are used by each postionand both have specific duties to make a restaurant function. the managements justification for their tip percentage being so high is batching drinks, stocking and storage of champagne bottle.
100% of this bartenders were terminated for theft casting a untrue image of the remaining employees, no action was taken to address this matter publicly, as a result business decreased and local restuarants publicly stated anyone from this employer wasnt hirable. I personally witnessed 3 co-workers apply for a new job at the same location...2 listed hello bettys, and 1 didnt...and this person got the job with less skills/qualifications.
Yelp reviews dont accuately the service!!! example we sometimes are instructded to go on waits with a restaurnat at 50% compacity. far to often food beats out bar drinks...certain things we persoanlly dont have control over. this affects business and tips to servers. we cant force a guest to tip 20% but yet we were forced to sign a paper agreeing to tip out regardless of what we recieved tip wise or we were not scheduled ultimately fired. main reason I left this place because it turned us against each other.heres another example i had a table spend over 100 dollars in alcohol only and this table tipped less than 20% I tipped out 14 dollars of that 18 dollar tip
Bartenders are constantly drinking on the job they recieved 1,000 dollar bar rennovation when basic supplies such as cups, silverware were needed. handed at least 100 extra dollars in tips daily from our pockets. imagine how much they pocketd plus their actaul tips and the servers tips new cars fancy trips while we fought over tables to pay rent.
