Pros

Luckily, I was able to be exposed to a big company and understand cultural differences in Eastern and Western eCommerce. There are a few people qualified for their jobs.

Cons

They expect you to be a "yes man". They will promise you things if you do what you're told. Your professional opinions do not matter. The PMs ideas are the best, even though they are given little thought. PMs will be in meetings all day and come to you at 3pm to do a handoff and the turn around is EoD or "ASAP". I once was told to go to an "all hands" meeting and it was a meeting in where the VP hired his motivational/religious friends that worked at Microsoft to give a speech on buying his book. Huge HR violation.

Pros

Good pay, solid benefits, amazing 401k, constant innovation. Lots of amazing new talent that should be protected & nurtured but lots of turnover.

Cons

Every senior American leader reports to Korean National referred to as a “dispatcher” - your mobility “ceiling.” Some are great but many lack English proficiency, American know-how, & have a manufacturer warehouse worker mentality (butt in chair for long hours to be seen by dispatcher even if all you are doing is shopping online).

Pros

Health care package is outstanding, 401K is fabulous! Samsung offers a ton of opportunities for employees to receive training and focus on their career path.

Cons

No transparency or honesty what so ever. Regardless of what is said at the Town Halls. The HR policies in place are out dated. If good talent is not happy in current role and employee is transparent on what and where they want to take their career inside of Samsung, HR should help instead of discourage. Samsung is losing really great talent and motivated employees due to this. I have seen it on my team as well as other teams. If an employee is open and honest with their manager and HR that is great because some will never be so if they are telling their leadership team that they are unhappy with their current role, want to stay with Samsung but would like a change, HR and leadership team should help assist that person instead of forcing them out and making look outside of Samsung.
