Pros

Making coffee is fun. Free shift drink. Discounts on food, drinks, and retail merchandise. You learn a lot about coffee.

Cons

Upper management is terrible. Regional managers play favorites really, really badly. Put their faith in the wrong people. If you're not willing to work 50 hours a week EVERY week, they want nothing to do with you. They preach about work/life balance and then punish you when you try to attain it.

Pros

tips add up to make your pay more than minimum wage fun to prepare drinks get to know regular customers

Cons

no breaks, even for 8 hour shifts left working alone often, sometimes during very busy hours company-wide problem with registers losing orders (for 7 months now) does not recycle although they advertise their arbor day coffee as if they are environmentally friendly does not allow sick days without doctor's note (even if you have the flu and simply need rest, you will have to pay your copay or they will have you come in and vomit) must sign up for a group chat app and respond to messages from your boss and coworkers even on your days off closers do the most work while those who work in the morning receive 5 times the amount in tips complaints of racist jokes were met with employees being told they "take things too seriously" corporate culture encourages cliques

Pros

The hours were decently flexible, pretty okay tips for what it was, seemed somewhat invested in their management teams at stores

Cons

No competitive or flexible wages, low hours for anyone not management, owners seem to think everyone working for them, including management, is a bunch of teenage girls who need their hands held every step of the way. treat their staff like children and punish management for even the slightest of slip ups. inventory too high? write up. inventory too low? write up. don't run out of items, even if they're selling like crazy, and when you inevitably do, don't go get any from anyone or, you guessed it, write up.
